For anyone that doesn’t want to read this entire post, the gist is: my last day at Columbia College is today, July 31st, 2013 and as of August 1st, 2013 I will be working for myself, full time, running my Web Design business based in Columbia, Missouri.
On July 16th, 2010 I got my dream job at Columbia College.
I celebrated my 3 year anniversary with Columbia College on July 26th, 2013, and today is my final day!
I loved working for Columbia College and will miss the institution, the beautiful campus, and awesome coworkers.
I had the opportunity to work with the finest co-workers
anyone could ask for and an amazing leadership team.
Since I was 6 years old, my main desire in life was to own and operate my own business.
At 6 years old I had an old, junk cell phone, a broken CB radio and a TON of imagination.
Every day since then I’ve been working toward owning my own business,
being self-employed, and standing on my own.
I designed my first website when I was 8: An Ode To John Deere Tractors. It was awful.
11 years later I started doing free lance web design in 2003 while attending Columbia College.
I saw my mom’s tax clients paying ridiculous amounts of money for absolutely terrible websites.
I’ve been helping small businesses with their online presence ever since!
I’ve been moonlighting while working full time jobs for 11 years years to support my family.
BUT, as of August 1st, 2013 I will be taking the dive and working for myself full time!
1,546 days ago, I setup a daily email called the “What Have You Done Tracker”
which told me the number of days I had left until I turned 30.
My goal originally was to be a millionaire by the time I was 30.
After marriage and kids my goal changed to working for myself full time before turning 30.
Since working for myself would make me feel like a millionaire, I didn’t feel it was a step down or a failure at all.
Plus, I have probably the most beautiful family ever, so it’s easy to feel blessed beyond money can measure.
Really it’s just my old wardrobe which I can now wear while working.
I’m really proud of my home office setup and really excited to be working here every day so I wanted to show it off.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a single person working out of your home like me,
or a large company with many employees, I can help!
I can work with any budget to give you the best bang for your buck.
There’s no magic bullet on the internet, what you need and what you can afford dictates our options, but talk to me first and I will be happy to guide you down the best path!
