Omgili – Find Out What People Are Saying

I have not read about this service anywhere before an Entrepreneur Magazine article.

It seems to be very similar Google Alerts, Technorati or IceRocket but not limited to blogs. The site is lacking an RSS feed for searches.

Recently a possible client talked to me about upgrading their current site. Unfortunately they had no access to the Joomla! setup which hosted the site and I needed to harvest all the articles and transfer them to a new Joomla! install which I setup and could administer.

How do you download an entire website without doing CTRL + S in FireFox for every single page of the site?!

You can use BackStreet Browser to download the whole site!

This process took about 15 minutes for the site which had around 100 pages. I’m sure larger sites will take more time but this little utility is great.

It’s free, so give it a try.

Lessons After 3 Months of Blogging

Author Verne Ho of Creative Briefing wrote about What He Learned from 3 Months of Blogging

I honestly have no idea how I ended up with his RSS feed in my reader, but I did, and this is a great article.

If you’re anything like me then you read constantly and since you’re probably a blogger as well, much of what you read deals with being a better blogger.

While CreativeBriefing.com is only 3 months old Verne broke down some of the most heard tips to be a good blogger and added his explanation of why they worked for him.

For those of us, yes this includes me, who are sometimes discouraged by the 800 pound gorillas of the blogging world, CreativeBriefing’s author gives a non-threatening look at the payoffs of good blogging.

Go read his article and enjoy. I know I did.

You Won’t not you Can’t

Self Made Chick author Christine O’Kelly recently decided to no longer say “Can’t,” and in its place, always say “Won’t.” The empowerment she now feels can easily be yours if you make the same transaction.

“The more successful a person is, the less often they say the word can’t. Unsuccessful people use the word can’t constantly.”

To this I would add that Unsuccessful people blame outside sources for their troubles while Successful people realize it is them, and only them, who can affect their life.

Any person can begin using this immediately and reign in control of their life.

The next time someone asks you why you’re not doing something, own up to the truth that you “Won’t” instead of copping out with “I Can’t”.

The greatest impact of switching from Can’t to Won’t for me is going to be when asked about purchasing anything, especially eating out. From now on, I will say “We Won’t go out to eat” instead of “we can’t.”

If you are doing this please let us all know in the comments. And for those of you who change your Can’ts to Won’ts please tell us.

What’s that? You won’t comment? Alright! :-)
