I found the following article Ten CSS tricks you may not know.
Some of the tips are pretty basic, but if you did not know any of them, they should all save you time.
On a personal note for this site.
I’m not sure if I really have readers of this blog or not, I don’t have much community feed back, but if you are a reader I would like to talk to you for a little bit.
I am a web designer, if you have read my About Section, or if you know me personally and are just reading my blog, then you know this already. I am planning on generating content based mostly on Web Design, as well as posting good articles – like the above – that I find.
However, I also post advertisements. I know this may be annoying, but I’ve got to make a living as well. Please be understanding that a little extra coin in anyone’s pocket is always helpful. I have labeled all of them with the Advertisements category, so just ignore those if you want.
I hope to offer good content for any readers I’ve got, and build my blog. Thank you for reading!
Sincerely,
E. Benus
Tim Ferriss at his blog Four Hour Work Week wrote a great article titled: How to Do The Impossible: Create a Paperless Life, Never Check Voicemail Again, Never Return Another Phone Call…
I am a huge proponent for the paperless life. I hate paper.
I can not stand snail mail and I am infamous for not answering my cell phone, but letting my voice mail do it for me.
Everyone I know I direct to my email account. Email is not a perfect medium, but it is far better than the phone. I cannot get “trapped” in a long email conversation. If I want to skim, or ignore completely, an email I received, I do so.
It is quite a social fopaux to do the same when someone is talking to you. Such a practice could be labeled the “glaze effect” when someone just powers down while another is talking to them.
The above article talks about several alternatives, most of which rely on email. You can have your snail mail re-directed to a business who then scans it and emails you the files. However, what happens the next time grandma sends me a check in the mail?
If you are in college, or know someone in college who is part of a Fraternity or Sorority, you need to check out this greek shirts website.
I love witty and funny t-shirts. There are several sites out there which focus on selling these gems, but greek shirts focuses on all things Frat and Sorority.
Their prices are phenomenal, and the sport a $9.95 guarantee!
Also, unlike many internet retailers, they don’t require your purchase to be online, their have a 1-800 number you can contact them at for questions, or to buy.
I had several friends who attended MU ( The University of Missouri ) who were very big into the Greek scene and who had great luck purchasing from this site. They are trustworthy, fast, and reliable. In short, a great site with great products and great service.
Check out greek shirts now!
April 15th came and passed. However, that does not mean your stress those Taxes created is gone. Uncle Sam might have stuck his hand in your pocket this year, or every year, and you feel helpless.
Like warfare, preparation is key! Now, you may not be a general, but you can have people on your side fighting to help you win.
If you are already in debt there are a range of solutions which can help. To get information on tax debt help and nationwide resource for taxpayers, please visit Secure Loan Consolidation’s website.
I personally live in Missouri, and there are several businesses who can give you tax debt help.
If you have questions, make sure you also check out their F.A.Q.
I blogged just a few days ago about PayPerPost Blogging and how awesome it is. Since then, I’ve already made $15, and counting! You can make money blogging, which you probably do already. It’s great!
Adding to my joy, I also just found out about PPP Direct. What’s the difference? Well, PayPerPost allows me to log into their website, “Take an Opportunity” and then write about it on my blog for the prescribed $ dollar amount.
PayPerPost (PPP) Direct allows bloggers to add a button to their blog where ANYONE can hire them for a fee set by you! Why does PPP do this? Well, they do take a small (10%) fee of what you charge. But that is noting compared to a few of their competitors, some charging as much as %50 of your fee!
I plan on adding this to my site just as soon as I can. Who ever thought that blogging could make you money? Not to mention that it is so simple to set up! It literally took me 30 minutes to sign up for PPP and start making money. Now, as soon as I get the PPP Direct button on my blog, I do not have to put out any extra effort, and anyone who wants to can quickly, cleanly, and easily hire me to blog about their business, opportunity, or anything!
If you have a blog and you are not doing PPP I just have one question for you… WHY NOT?
Visit PayPerPost’s sight right now and set up your free account.
I really appreciate the articles the NRA News publishes, and their newest one is titled Schools Out On Safety.
“When you walk into a bank, you’re surrounded by armed guards, security cameras and silent alarms—layers of security measures. Go to a ballgame or a concert or a shopping mall—all protected by all kinds of security.
But if you walk into virtually any school in the country, you’d be hard-pressed to find ANY measure of security … in America, we protect our money, our offices, our shopping malls, and our stadiums more than we protect our children at school. Far more.”
How depressing is that?! My next favorite quote is:
The safest place for a deranged killer to go on a rampage is an American school.
Too True! Why is it that so many of these school shootings were so fatal? Because no one was allowed to be armed on the school grounds.
I do not have any children yet, but thinking about my little tykes in the future, I don’t want to have cops (obviously armed personnel) walking around the school campus. I would much rather the school system used an Air Martial style plan where gun carrying personnel were hidden.
Guns in school are a problem, and I would prefer to not have any present. But just like everywhere else in the nation, I want the good guys with guns because the bad guys will always have them.
What does everyone else think? Weigh in…

You Are Not a Robot by Jonathan Kahn, an article at A List Apart.
I’ve been thinking about robots replacing us for a long time. Thinking back to the first time I watched Back the the Future, Part II and the Cafe 80′s waiters were TV monitors.
Working as a car hop at Sonic, a bank teller at FNB, and many other careers, I contemplated the possibility of replacement by machine.
I’m not paranoid or delusioned. I know that machines will probably never be creative or free thinking, so as long as I stick to fields that require those talents I need not fear replacement by machine.
I used to beat myself up over the fact that I was not the best web designer, or graphic designer. But the reality is, no one is the best anything. I’m good enough, and better than many. Not to mention that I have several other talents, such as communication ability and writing talent which competitors lack. I just hope I can capitalize on them.
What does this have to do with the fact that “You are not a robot”? Nothing. But it’s my blog and I can write what I want.
Anyway, I appreciate Kahn for pointing out Web Designers experiencing a lack of respect and explaining we are not production line items churning out Widgets 1000 per minute.
Web Designers… We are creative entities, generating value on a global medium, presenting far ranging content, with a refined pallet of skill sets, not to be assembly lined.
If you like the above article, you might also like Framework for Designers, also on A List Apart, which I just blogged about as well.
Frameworks for Designers by Jeff Croft is an article that was just Published at A List Apart.
This is a great article which discusses the benefits of creating a framework, “a set of tools, libraries, conventions, and best practices that attempt to abstract routine tasks into generic modules that can be reused” for web design.
Personally, this is something I’ve been thinking about a lot. I currently have only one website I’m working on, free lance, but my goal is to do it full time. Thus, I need to maximize my time and efforts in relation to my revenue. Why re-invent the wheel, if the first one I made will work for multiple applications (not computer applications)?
One thing the article does not cover is the consistent use of the same tags and classes. I try to use the same DIV ID’s for every website I design. For instance, I make sure to use ID’s like section01, section02, etc… instead of leftnav, rightnav, center, etc… This allows me to create websites quickly and easily instead of having to think about my naming convention.
Jump over to A List Apart, it’s a great website with a plethora of good articles all dealing with web design.
Check out this website: XYZ Bikes.com – cruiser bikes.
My first bike, which I bought, was a single speed model from Wal-Mart, but I loved it. After it, I graduated up to mountain bikes, and every bike I’ve bought since has had more gears. However, I’d been thinking here recently about getting one of the old school bikes, which XYZ Bikes actually sells. Now, I wanted to find one that I could fix up and modify a bit, but these folks have reasonable prices, most bikes are around $100, and they ship internationally.
The website has a F.A.Q. and Blog for your reading pleasure.
Their website could do with some updating, but they seem like a solid place.
Like I said, I would love to get my girlfriend and I a pair of these bikes for light trail riding and just around the neighborhood for exercise. They are marketed as for the beach, but there aren’t any beaches in Missouri!
When I was younger I used to bicycle 35 miles every Saturday with another friend of mine, and I loved it. We traveled on the Katy Trail here in Missouri from Columbia to Rocheport (pronounced Roach Port). It would take us about 4 hours on average, but was incredibly relaxing, and we got to have good conversations while peddling. Bicycling is a great hobby, wonderfully relaxing, as well as being great exercise.
My significant other and I are definitely wanting to get into Bicycling. We have been walking a lot recently, but walking is much harder on the body, and you don’t get to travel as far before being worn out. You can cover much greater distances on a bike, it’s much more cardiovascular, and much easier on your body thank walking or jogging.
What are you waiting for?! Go check out XYZ Bikes!
Thanks for Reading!
